Problem: ArcPad StreetMap Find Address or Location Tool are disabled if all Streetmap components were not installed to a mobile device

Description

When upgrading to ArcPad 7.1.1 from a previous ArcPad version on a mobile device, the StreetMap 'Find Address or Location' Tool is grayed out and unavailable for Geocoding if all ArcPad StreetMap components were not deployed to a mobile device.

Cause

All ArcPad StreetMap components were not deployed to the mobile device when installing ArcPad 7.1.1 on a Windows Mobile operating system.

The ArcPad StreetMap 'Find Address or Location' Tool is disabled if all ArcPad StreetMap components are not installed to a mobile device. The behavior is only noticeable on Windows Mobile devices when attempting to use the tool. All other tools are available, and the StreetMap data displays as expected in the ArcPad map view window.

Solution or Workaround

The ArcPad Deployment Manager includes the option for individually deploying the Canada or USA Geocoding components. Both geocoding options must be deployed to the mobile device for the Find Address Tool to be available.

The instructions below describe how to deploy all ArcPad StreetMap components to a mobile device:

  1. Launch ArcPad Deployment Manager.

  2. Expand and select the checkbox to Install ArcPad StreetMap for Windows Mobile.
  3. Select the checkbox to Install StreetMap Extension for Windows Mobile.
  4. Expand and select the checkbox to Install Canada Geocoding for Windows Mobile.
  5. Expand and the select checkbox to Install USA Geocoding for Windows Mobile.
  6. Click the Deploy button to begin the mobile device installation process.
