How To: Increase the maximum number of unique values allowed in a raster attribute table

When a raster dataset that has more than 65,536 unique values is rendered, an error message that there are too many unique values may display. Instructions provided describe how to increase the maximum number of unique values allowed in a raster attribute table.

Procedure

To edit the unique values for a raster attribute table, follow the steps below:
 

  1. In ArcMap or ArcCatalog, click Tools > Options.
    (In ArcGIS 10, click Customize > ArcMap Options.)
  2. Click the Raster tab.
  3. Select the sub-tab named Raster Attribute Table.
    (In ArcGIS 10, it is on the Raster Dataset sub-tab.)
  4. Increase the maximum number.
