When a view is defined using table synonyms for a table in a remote Informix database, only the user who owns the view can preview it in ArcCatalog. If a user other than the owner of the view connects to the ArcSDE geodatabase in Informix, the user cannot preview the view in ArcCatalog even though the SELECT permission has been granted to the user on that view.
Informix records privileges granted to users on views that are defined using table synonyms from a remote database in a different place than other object privileges. Because ArcSDE does not query this other table used by Informix, it doesn't find the connected user's privileges for the view and therefore does not display it in ArcCatalog. This occurs if one or more of the columns included in the view come from a synonym to a table stored in a remote database.
