PROBLEM

The Interactive Selection button is grayed out

Description

Unable to select features due to the Interactive Selection tool and other selection options being grayed out.

Cause

There are no layers added to the map document or there are no selectable layers.

Solution or Workaround

Set the selectable layers by clicking Selection on the Menu Bar and choosing Set Selectable Layers. Check the layers to be selected.

Selectable layers can also be set by clicking the Selection tab at the bottom of the Table of Contents.
