Instructions provided describe how to preview cartographic representations in ArcCatalog.

Procedure

Cartographic representations are not directly previewable in ArcCatalog. Use the following workaround procedure:

  1. Add the cartographic representation to ArcMap.
  2. Right-click on the cartographic representation layer in the ArcMap Table of Contents and select 'Save As Layer File'.

    The subsequent .lyr file is viewable in ArcCatalog Preview.
