Xvfb does not start, causing ArcGIS Server to fail on Sun Solaris

Description

When starting the ArcGIS Server on a Sun Microsystems machine, the Xvfb virtual display server does not start. Several ports are attempted, such as 600-619.

When executing manually using the init_xvfb script, the following messages occur:

"Could not find encodings.dir in /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/encodings. Check installation."


"Could not find ttmaps.dir in /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/ttmap. Check installation."

Cause

Not all packages of the X Windows System are installed.

Solution or Workaround

Ensure that all packages of the X Windows System are installed.

The two missing files are found in the following SUN packages:

SUNWi15rf
SUNWi7rf
SUNWi9rf
SUNWinttf
SUNWcttf
SUNW1251f
SUNWarrf
