Problem: ArcGIS Server 9.2 (Solaris/Linux): Uninstall will fail if you choose not to back up files

Description

When uninstalling ArcGIS Server 9.2 on Solaris or Linux, a prompt displays to back up the ArcGIS Server files. Selecting not to back up ArcGIS Server files causes the uninstall to fail.

Cause

This is a bug in the uninstall script of ArcGIS Server 9.2 on Solaris and Linux.

Solution or Workaround

If you have ArcGIS Server 9.2 SP2 installed, a script named "ArcGISServer92_UninstallPatcher.sh" will be placed in the "installdir"/arcgis/scripts directory. Run this script using instructions given in steps 1 to 3 to update the uninstall script of ArcGIS Server.

If you do not have ArcGIS Server 9.2 SP2 installed, first download the tar file from the link in the bottom of this page. Copy the tar file to the "installdir"/arcgis/scripts directory and extract using the command tar -xvf ArcGISServer92_UninstallPatcher.tar. Follow steps 1 to 3 to update the uninstall script of ArcGIS Server.

  1. As the owner of the ArcGIS Server install

    > cd "installdir"/arcgis/scripts directory
  2. Execute the script that will patch the uninstall script

    > ./ArcGISServer92_UninstallPatcher.sh
  3. You will see the following message returned when the uninstall script is successfully patched:

"The uninstaller has now been patched."
