FAQ: What is the appropriate RASTERBUFSIZE in ArcSDE 9.2?

Question

What is the appropriate RASTERBUFSIZE in ArcSDE 9.2?

Answer

At 9.2, the RASTERBUFSIZE parameter should be kept at its default value of 102400 bytes. Setting the RASTERBUFSIZE too large, e.g., greater than 1MB, causes various raster viewing and raster loading problems. When upgrading to 9.2 from an earlier version of ArcSDE, ensure the RASTERBUFSIZE parameter is set to 102400 after the upgrade.

Modify he RASTERBUFSIZE parameter value using the following command:

Code:
sdeconfig -o alter -v RASTERBUFSIZE=102400 -i <SDE_Service_Name | Port_Number> -D <Database_Name> -s <Server_Name> -u sde -p <SDE_User_Password>

See the link in the Related Information section below for more information on setting the RASTERBUFSIZE parameter at 9.2.
