Identify the Quick Fix (QFE) number for an ArcGIS Service Pack

Instructions provided describe how to find and identify the QFE number for a file modified by an ArcGIS Service Pack or hotfix.

Procedure

Each hotfix or service pack is documented with a list of files modified. Each of the files modified by the Service Pack will contain an extra property field for QFE number. This list of files can usually be found on the download page for the respective Service Pack or hotfix.

  1. Browse to the install location, for example C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\bin directory, right-click on one of the files that was modified by the Service Pack, e.g., ArcCatalog.exe, and select Properties.
  2. Click the 'Version' tab. If a Service Pack has been applied, an item titled 'QFE Version' is displayed under the 'Other Version Information' section.
  3. Click on the 'QFE Version' and the QFE number is displayed on the right panel. The QFE Version for ArcGIS Desktop 9.1 SP2 is QFE-DT-91-CQ00283789, which stands for:

    QFE – <Product> = Desktop
    Version = 9.1
    CQ # = Includes all the bugs/enhancements fixed through this Service Pack.
