How To: Manually place unmatched records after geocoding

Summary

Instructions provided describe how to manually place points for unmatched records after geocoding addresses. The workflow differs depending on the version of ArcGIS for Desktop being used.

Procedure

In ArcGIS Desktop 9.x:

1. Start an Edit session.
2. Set the task on the Editor toolbar to Modify Feature and the target to the geocoded layer.
3. Open the attribute table of the geocoded points and select/highlight the record to be placed.
4. In the Status field, change the U to an M for the selected record.

1. Start an Edit session.
2. Open the attribute table of the geocoded points and select/highlight the record to be placed.
3. In the Status field, change the U to an M for the selected record.
4. Place the point using the Edit tool by dragging the existing point on the map to the desired position.
