PROBLEM

ArcScene crashes when adding more than 60 TINs

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

Modeling surfaces often requires the use of more than one surface for the area of interest. If more than sixty TINs are added to ArcScene, the application fails with the following error:

"The instruction 0x0000000 referenced memory at 0x0000000 which could not be read."

Cause

This is a known issue.

Solution or Workaround

  • Recreate larger TINs from the original input data so that there are fewer entries in ArcScene's Table of Contents.
  • Convert the TINs into raster datasets, depending on what the TINs represent.
  • Programmatically convert the TINs into Multipatches for display in ArcScene.
