View which tools were run and which parameter values were set in the previous session of ArcGIS prior to 9.3

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

Instructions provided describe how to view which tools that were run and which parameter values were set in the previous session of ArcGIS.

The history model documents which tools were run and which parameter values were set in the last session. This information can be viewed the next time ArcMap or ArcCatalog is opened by editing the history model and double-clicking each tool within it to view the parameter values that were set.

Procedure

  • In either ArcMap or ArcCatalog, navigate to Tools > Options, select the Geoprocessing tab and check on 'Log operations to history model'.

After running a geoprocessing tool using any ArcGIS Desktop application, the tool is added to the session's history model, located in the History toolbox in the 'My Toolboxes' folder.
  • To view the history as it is being generated, right-click the execution string in the message section of the Command Line window and click History after running a tool.
