BUG

Image Memory Limit reverts to previous value when modified in Image Service Properties

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

When attempting to change the Image Memory Limit option in the Properties dialog for a specific image service in ArcIMS Administrator, it does not allow a change to the value or it reverts back to Zero.

Cause

The MaxImageMemory parameter is set to Zero in the ArcIMS Administrator properties file aimsdefaults.properties.

Workaround

Set the MaxImageMemory and ImageMemory property in the properties file directly.

  1. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\yourprofile.
  2. Find the file aimsdefaults.properties and open it with Notepad.
  3. Reset the values:
for MaxImageMemory change the existing value to 250 and for ImageMemory change the existing value to 4 or higher.
  4. Save and close the file.
  5. Restart the ArcIMS Windows services.
  6. Now, when logging back into ArcIMS Administrator it should be possible to set the value through the user interface.

    Note:
If any changes in the user interface revert back again, set the desired value in the aimsdefaults.properties file and then change the file properties to Read-Only.
