HOW TO

Use ArcMap symbology in ArcPad 7.0

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

Instructions provided describe how to export ArcMap symbology to use in ArcPad 7.0.

ArcPad 6.0.3 supports only a limited set of symbology from ArcMap, therefore options in Layer Properties are limited.

ArcPad 7.0 supports most symbology in ArcMap. Use the Export Symbology tool, located in the ArcPad toolbar, in ArcMap, to use selected ArcMap symbols in ArcPad. The layer properties and symbology supported by ArcPad are stored in an .apl.

Procedure

Follow the steps below.

  1. In ArcMap select the layers for which you want to export symbology.
  2. In ArcMap, click 'Export Symbology' for selected layers, located in the ArcPad toolbar.
  3. The symbology definitions are added to the corresponding ArcPad Layer file(*.apl) for each selected layer.

A new ArcPad Layer file is created; if it does not already exist.
