Description
A grid and/or a graticule is created in the ArcMap Layout view, but the labels for the grid will not draw.
Cause
The point value of the Label Offset must be at least 1/2 the point value of the labels, or the labels will not draw.
For example, the default Label Offset point value is 6. If the Label Size value is set to a value greater than 12, the labels will not draw.
Solution or Workaround
- In ArcMap, navigate to the Tools > Options > General tab, and uncheck the Wizard Mode box to turn off Wizard Mode.
- In the ArcMap Layout view, navigate to the View > Data Frame Properties > Grids tab, and select the existing grid. A new grid can also be created at this time as the following steps are relevant for both new and existing grids.
- While in the View > Data Frame Properties > Grids tab, make sure the grid is turned on and selected. Click on the Properties button for the grid.
- Select the Labels tab, and adjust the Label Size and the Label Offset value, so that the Label Offset is no less than 1/2 the Label Size.
The Labels will render in the Layout View.
