Diagnose problems when unable to create any ArcIMS Services in Administrator

Instructions provided describe the diagnosis and troubleshooting of ArcIMS when services cannot be created in Administrator.

Procedure

Use the questions below to diagnose the problem. If the problem cannot be resolved using the articles referenced, provide answers to the following questions when calling ESRI Technical Support:
  • Are there any Virtual or Spatial Servers listed in Administrator?

  • Is ArcIMS 9.x Authorized?

    • ArcIMS 9.x requires a valid authorization file to run. A new authorization file is required for every new version. The following error message may be displayed when logging into Administrator:
      [WRN0401] ArcIMS is not authorized on one or more machines.
      Keycode required to unlock software.
    • Possible Solution
  • Are the Application Server and Monitor able to communicate?

  • Is the Monitor Service running?

    • Check that the Aims_Monitor.exe process is running in the Windows Task Manager or command "ps -ef|grep aims" in Unix and Linux.
    • Possible Solutions
  • Are there Spatial Servers running?

    • Check that the aimsserver.exe process is running in the Windows Task Manager or command "ps -ef|grep aims" in Unix and Linux.
    • Possible Solutions
