BUG

Network Analyst: The service area polygon range label may be incorrect

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

The service area polygon labels, as seen in the Network Analyst Window, may be incorrect.

For example, if break values of 5, 10 and 30 are used, the labels might appear as:
0 – 5
5 – 10
0 – 15.515

The correct labels should be:
0 – 5
5 – 10
10 – 15.515

Note that the third label incorrectly started at 0 instead of 10.

Cause

This problem happens when multiple breaks are used and there is at least one break larger than the largest possible measure that can exist from that particular facility for the network being used. In this case, the breaks went to 30, but the data only supported service areas extending until 15.515.

Workaround

Set the service area breaks to be less than the maximum measure value. For example, if the maximum value is 15.512 then use breaks of 5 10 15.5, instead of 5 10 20.

An alternative workaround is to edit the service area polygon label within the Network Analyst Window after performing the solve.
