Direct Citrix clients to different license manager servers

Summary

The instructions provided describe how to direct ArcGIS clients in the Citrix environment to different license manager servers.

Procedure

For each ArcGIS client, set the license file variable as a User level environment variable. Ensure there are no other conflicting ESRI_LICENSE_FILE, ARCGIS_LICENSE_FILE, or LM_LICENSE_FILE variables set as a System or User environment variable.

• For 9.x, 10.x, and later:

  Variable: ARCGIS_LICENSE_FILE
  Value: @license_server_hostname

• For 8.x clients and license servers:

  Variable: ESRI_LICENSE_FILE
  Value: @license_server_hostname

  Note:
  The license file environment variable takes precedence over the License Manager setting in the Desktop Administrator.
