BUG

MimeDataUtil.exe does not install with .Net ADF When Visual Studio .Net is not installed

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

**This issue is addressed in ArcGIS 9.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) **

On a production server that has IIS, the Microsoft .Net Framework, and ArcGIS Server .Net ADF run-time installed, the MimDataUtil.exe file is missing from the .NET ADF run-time installation feature.

This causes the client pages of an AGS .Net Application to render with broken links for images in the controls.

Cause

This is a known issue.

A default in the .Net ADF run-time installation causes the MimeDataUtil.exe to fail to install. This file facilitates the transmission of the ADF control images from the server to the client.

The file installs correctly with the .Net ADF when the Visual Studio integration feature is selected.

Workaround

** This issue is addressed in ArcGIS 9.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Click on the link in Related Information below and download Service Pack 2, if necessary. **

If Service Pack 2 is unavailable, manually copy the MimeDataUtil.exe from the development server to the production server and execute it.

  1. Locate MimeDataUtil.exe on the development machine in the <ArcGIS Install Directory>\DotNet folder.
  2. Copy the file to the same directory on the production server.
  3. Run the file on the production server using the /register option to execute it.
