Failed to execute (RasterToPolygon_1) or (RasterToPoint_1) or (RasterToPolyline_1)

Error Message

When attempting to convert a raster to a polygon or point or polyline feature class, the following error message is displayed:

"Failed to execute (RasterToPolygon_1)"
"Failed to execute (RasterToPoint_1)"
"Failed to execute (RasterToPolyline_1)"

Cause

The output shapefile is too large. An output .shp file might have been created that is approximately 2 GB in size, which is the maximum allowable size. All output is initially written to .shp before it is finally written to the desired output format.

Solution or Workaround

• Reclassify the raster to create fewer unique values.
• Resample the raster to create fewer unique values.
• Split the raster into smaller pieces.
• Output to a file geodatabase.
