Description

Uninstalling the ESRI 8.x License Manager also removes the ArcGIS 9 License Manager. This only occurs when the ESRI 8.x License Manager was installed after the ArcGIS 9 License Manager.

Cause

Functions that prevent this from occurring with the ArcGIS 9 License Manager are altered by the ESRI 8.x License Manager installation.

Workaround

The only option is to reinstall the License Manager. When installing both versions of the License Manager on the same machine, install the ESRI 8.x License Manager first and then install the ArcGIS 9 License Manager.
