Driver Version Mismatch

Error Message

When saving or performing other functions in ArcMap the following error occurs:

"Driver Version Mismatch"

Cause

The Windows Update site can install an older WHQL-certified version of the display drivers than what is on the system, resulting in mismatched file versions.

Solution or Workaround

Upgrade the display driver to the latest version, or remove and reapply the version currently installed.

Workaround
If the error occurs when saving, a temporary workaround is to disable the 'Save thumbnail image with map' option in Map Properties.

1. From the ArcMap File menu, select File > Map Properties.
2. Uncheck the 'Save thumbnail image with map' option.
3. Click OK to exit Map Properties.
