How To: Connect a Bluetooth enabled Windows Mobile 2003 (Pocket PC 2003) device to a Bluetooth GPS unit

Instructions provided describe how to connect a Bluetooth enabled Windows Mobile 2003 (Pocket PC 2003) device to a Bluetooth GPS unit.

Procedure

All of the configuration settings are set on the Windows Mobile 2003 device and the Bluetooth GPS unit must be turned on.

  1. Tap Start > Bluetooth Manager.

  2. Tap New > Connect.
  3. Tap Explore a Bluetooth device, Tap Next.

  4. Tap the Device window to choose a device.

  5. Select the GPS unit.
  6. In the Service Selection window, Tap Serial Port, Tap Next.

  7. Tap Finish.
  8. Tap the My Shortcuts tab.
  9. Tap and hold on the name of the connection to the GPS unit, Select Connect.

    Note:
    This will connect the Windows Mobile device to the GPS unit

  10. Close the Bluetooth Manager.
  11. Start ArcPad.
  12. Verify the Protocol settings match the setting on the GPS unit from Tools > Options > Protocol.
  13. Tap Tools > Options > GPS. The default Port for a Bluetooth GPS unit is COM8.
  14. Set any additional GPS settings that need to be set up for the GPS unit, Tap OK.
  15. Tap GPS > Active.
