HOW TO

Change the coordinate system of a data frame while finding a route

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

Instructions provided describe how to change the coordinate system of a data frame while finding a route. When adding stops to Find Route, then changing the coordinate system of the data frame, the route isn't calculated. This occurs because the x,y values of the stops did not get translated to the new coordinate system.

Procedure

To change the coordinate system of a data frame while finding a route, follow the Steps below:

  1. Change the coordinate system of the data frame before adding stops to Find Route.

    A. Right-click the data frame whose coordinate system is to be changed and click Properties.

    B. Click the Coordinate System tab.

    C. Double-click Predefined; navigate through the folders to locate the desired coordinate system and click it. Alternatively, click Modify, adjust the coordinate system properties as appropriate, and click OK.

    D. After adjusting the coordinate system, click OK on the Data Frame Properties dialog box.

  2. Set stops in Find Route.

    A. Add the stops to the Find Route dialog box.

    B. Set routing and driving directions display options.

    C. Click Find Route.
