Error Message

The "GifRenderer: No color compression was necessary" message may be found in the ArcIMS spatial server stdout log files, when using an ArcIMS service that produces GIF output images.

Cause

This message indicates that when trying to produce an 8-bit GIF image from 24-bit image data that no color compression (or color loss) was necessary, because the imagery data used 256 or less colors.
