HOW TO

Increase the performance of the Object Loader when loading features into Geometric Networks

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

Building the Map or Edit Cache over the area that objects will be loaded into can result in a significant increase in the speed with which objects are loaded into the Geometric Network.

Procedure

Because of new functionality that was added at ArcGIS 9.0, the Edit Cache was renamed to the Map Cache.

  1. In ArcMap, zoom to the area into which the objects will be loaded. To do this, add the source data to ArcMap. Right click on the layer in the Table of Contents and select Zoom to Layer.
  2. If your version of ArcGIS is 8.3 or earlier Start Editing and build the Edit Cache. If your version of ArcGIS is 9.0 or later build the Map Cache.
  3. Set the Target Layer to load the objects into and click the Object Loader command.
