PROBLEM

Crystal Reports 8.5 and 9.0 will not launch in ArcView 3.2 or 3.2a's Report Writer

Description

When attempting to create a report with Crystal Reports 8.5 or Crystal Reports 9.0, Report Writer exits after it is unable to connect with Crystal Reports 8.5 or Crystal Reports 9.0. This problem has been fixed with ArcView 3.3 but not in earlier versions of ArcView.

Cause

This is a known issue.

Solution or Workaround

Apply the Report Writer Patch for ArcView 3.2 or 3.2a. Crystal Reports 8.5 or Crystal Reports 9.0 will then launch with the Report Writer.

You must already have ArcView 3.2 or 3.2a and Crystal Reports 8.5 or Crystal Reports 9.0 installed to use this patch.
