Cause

The interchange file may contain an invalid node coordinate value. For example, a corrupted XY coordinate pair may look like the following.

1.20539621500000E+07 3.59q9564800?000E+06ì

The Y coordinate value above, is not a valid number because it contains non numerical characters.

Solution or Workaround

Open the interchange file in a text editor. Examine the file for bad coordinates.

Change any invalid coordinate values to zero.

Once you have imported the coverage, correct the coordinate value of the feature you edited in ArcEdit.
