Cannot join between a cover# field and an indexed field

Description

When performing a join between the cover# field and a field that is indexed, no data is transferred for records that contain ***** as the value in the cover# field.

Cause

ArcView uses the displayed values, not the stored values, of the destination table to match to the values of an indexed field in the source table.

Solution or Workaround

1. Remove the index for the field.

2. Use ARCINFO to increase the output width of the cover# field.
