Use an image as a North Arrow

Summary

You can add an EMF image file or a BMP image file to the North Arrow selector by performing the following steps.

Procedure

1. Start ArcMap.
2. Select Style Manager from the Styles option in the Tools menu.
3. Select ESRI.style in the Style Manager dialog box.
4. Right-click on the North Arrows folder and select New>North Arrow.
5. Click the Symbol button in the North Arrow dialog box.
6. Click the Properties button in the Symbol Selector.
7. Set the Type to Picture Marker Symbol.
8. Browse to the EMF or BMP image file.
9. Select the image file and click Open.
10. Resize the image, if necessary.
11. Click OK to close the Symbol Property Editor.
12. Click OK to close the Symbol Selector.
13. Click Apply and OK to close the North Arrow dialog box.
14. Close the Style Manager dialog box.
