Dragging anything in and across ArcView leaves a trail where the window was

Description

When dragging any window within the application, or across ArcView from another application, the window leaves a trail. It takes awhile for the marks to go away and for ArcView to resume proper functionality.

Cause

The 'Show Window Contents While Dragging' and 'Use Transition Effects' options within the display effects are turned on.

Solution or Workaround

1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Display icon.
3. Click the Effects tab.
4. Uncheck the options to 'Show Window Contents While Dragging' and 'Use Transition Effects'.
5. Click the Apply button.
   
   

   Note:
   You may need to restart your computer to see the changes.
