PROBLEM

IGDS to Coverage wizard does not always build topology or join the .acode to FAT

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

When using the IGDS to Coverage wizard, sometimes the output coverage has neither line nor point topology, nor does it join the ACODE file to the coverages FAT (Feature Attribute Table). This happens after the following options are checked:

· Build line and/or point attributes
· Join the ACODE file to associated feature attribute tables

Cause

Importing an IGDS level containing text elements will cause both the BUILD, and JOIN requests to be ignored.

This is a known issue.

Solution or Workaround

  1. Use ArcToolbox, ArcCatalog, or ArcInfo Workstation to build topology in the resulting coverage.
  2. Use the ArcInfo Workstation JOINTITEM command to join files:

    Code:
    JOINITEM [coverage_name].AAT [IGDS_name].ACODE [coverage_name].AAT [coverage_name]-id [coverage_name]-id ORDERED
