ArcView automatically creates a DDE source (server) when started. If you want to have more than one ArcView program running, and you want to communicate with both of them through DDE, you will need to rename one of the sources with the request DDEServer.StartNamed(aServerName). This allows you to specify a different application name for ArcView, allowing DDE to distinguish between the separate ArcView programs.
