The feature is on a network resource that is unavailable

Error Message

When starting ArcMap or ArcCatalog as a Windows user without administrative privileges, ArcMap or ArcCatalog returns the following error:

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable

Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'ArcMap_vba.msi' in
the box below.

Use feature from:
<drive>:\arcexe8x\support\vba6"

Cause

Unknown

Solution or Workaround

1. Create the directory that the error requests.
2. Copy the \support folder from the ArcInfo Desktop disc into the directory created in Step 1.
3. Use the Browse option in the error to browse to the requsted .msi. In this example the .msi is: <drive>:\arcexe8x\support\vba6\arcmap_vba.msi. Select OK.
