Workstation CONTROLPOINTS command has fatal "could not establish control points" error

Error Message

If a control point is deleted when in the CONTROLPOINTS interface, the following error is reported:

FATAL ERROR
Segment Violation
Bailing out of REGISTER
could not establish control points

Cause

This is a problem with ArcInfo Workstation 8.1.
