Interactive selection does not adhere to group layer drawing status in ArcMap

Description

The Select Feature tool should not select features that are not visible. Turning off drawing for group layers does not disable Select Feature tool functionality.

Cause

This is a known issue.

Solution or Workaround

This issue has been addressed in ArcGIS Version 8.1.2.
