Keep drawing tools active after use in ArcMap

Summary

After using a drawing tool to create text or a graphic, the active tool reverts to the graphic selection tool. You can use ArcMap's Advanced Settings Utility to keep the drawing tool active; for example, while creating multiple instances of text.

Procedure

1. Close all ArcGIS applications and start the Advanced Settings Utility.
   
   
   A. Navigate to the Utilities folder under the ArcGIS installation directory; for example, C:\arcgis\arcexe81\Utilities.
   
   B. Double-click AdvancedArcMapSettings.exe.
   
   
   
2. Select the Symbols/Graphics tab.
3. Check the 'Keep Drawing Tool Active after completing a shape' check box.
4. Click Close.
   
   When you use a drawing tool, it will remain active until you select a different tool.
