After accessing a grid raster in ArcMap or ArcCatalog, attempting to delete it with the Workstation KILL command results in the following error message:
Unable to remove directory. Possible causes:
1- Not owner of this directory
2- Another person or application is accessing this directory
Unable to Kill grd1
References to the grid in the INFO folder are removed, as are some of the grid’s component files. This makes the grid inaccessible, even though the folder remains on the disk.
The problem is that grid deletion from the KILL command is executed improperly if the grid is being simultaneously accessed by ArcMap or ArcCatalog.
