How To: Use Fonts in Maplex

Summary

This article provides information on Maplex fonts.

Procedure

The Font Modifier file (fmod9.dat) is the primary source for Maplex font information.

This file is created the first time the Map:Fonts:Add Fonts button is pressed. Once the file is created there is a choice of where the font information can be accessed from.

PostScript fonts

ArcInfo fonts: Set the ArcHome folder in the Add Fonts menu.

Note:
The fontindex file is located in <drive>:\arcexeXX\locale\c. Fonts are usually in the <drive>:\arcexeXX\fonts folder but could be anywhere on the system; the path is stored in the fontindex file for each font that is referenced.

Windows fonts: These are installed on the system and are located in c:\winnt\fonts directory.
