Frequently asked question

What are the differences between CAD drawings and CAD feature datasets?

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Answer

CAD drawings represent drawing entities as they would appear in the original CAD software package. These drawings appear as a single data source and are typically used for display purposes. CAD feature datasets contain CAD feature classes. These feature classes organize CAD features based on geometry type and can be used as layers as other feature classes for symbolization, analysis, data conversion, and so forth.
