ArcMap will not recognize a newly added raster format Dynamically Linked Library (DLL)

Description

After creating a raster format DLL, to view and use a raster format not currently supported by ArcGIS, the raster is not listed in ArcMap or ArcCatalog.

Cause

The Windows registry keys do not detect the new format DLL.

1. Use RegEdit to delete all values under the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ESRI\Raster.
2. Navigate tot the following folder:
   
   C:\ArcGIS\ArcEXE81\Raster\Devices\NTx86\Win32_NT
   
   Delete the following files:
   • RasterFormats.cfg
   • GeometricModels.cfg
   • ResampleMethods.cfg
