PROBLEM

The output feature class name includes an incorrect feature class type

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

The output geodatabase feature class has a name that includes an incorrect feature class type. For example, the feature class name is 'mydata_poly' when the feature class actually contains lines.

Cause

Changing the input feature class type in the Coverage to Geodatabase tool, or in the CAD to Geodatabase tool, does not change the default output feature class name.

The default output feature class name includes the originally selected feature class name.

Solution or Workaround

  • Verify the output feature class name on the Summary panel to ensure it is correct before you click OK.
  • After the feature class has been created, rename it in ArcCatalog to contain the correct feature class type.
