Embedded object disappears after adding a new layer in Data View

Description

When inserting a Microsoft Word document into a new ArcMap document data view and then adding a layer, the embedded Word object disappears.

Cause

When adding a map for the first time, the extent of the Data Frame may be altered dramatically. Embedded items are not automatically updated.
