How To: Print with ArcPress RTL Device Dithered RGB or HP RTL RGB (Truecolor) driver

Summary

The ArcPress RTL Device Dithered RGB, known as the HP RTL RGB driver in ArcPress for ArcGIS 9.0 and 9.1, uses the true color RGB model and is recommended for those dissatisfied with the darkness of the ArcPress 7.x/8.x and ArcPress for ArcView GIS RTL drivers. It is also the only ArcPress RTL driver that is supported on the HP DesignJet 5500, 5000, 800 and 500 series printers.

The ArcPress RTL Device Dithered RGB driver supports the HP DesignJet 5500, 5000, 800, 500*, 1000 series, 2500/3500CP series, 750 and 455 series printers. It does not support the HP DesignJet 650, 250, 350 series printers nor any ENCAD printer.

Note:
The HP DesignJet 500 printer is now directly supported by way of the ArcPress PCL RGB driver, available at ArcGIS 9.0 Service Pack 2. This ArcPress driver does not require the installation of the optional HPGL2 card into the DesignJet 500.

    Note:
This driver is available in the ArcPress Version 2.0a patch for ArcView GIS.

  • There is no need to use any pre-existing ArcPress color correction or saturation options, or to select an ArcPress dithering pattern.

These options are unavailable from the ArcPress Properties dialog box in ArcMap 8.x and the ArcPress Color tab on the Options dialog box in the ArcInfo Print menu.
  • This driver is designed to work best with the highest quality print mode setting. If the printer is not set to the highest quality mode, banding may be visible on the print.

    Note:
This driver is called HP RTL RGB (Truecolor) in ArcPress for ArcGIS 9.0 and 9.1.
