Integer expected at parameter 3 of program $AVBIN\shapedxf.exe

Error Message

ArcView's ShapeDXF Utility returns this error:

"Integer expected at parameter 3 of program $AVBIN\shapedxf.exe."

Cause

The ShapeDXF Utility sends instructions to DOS for execution of the operation. If there is a space character in the input pathname of the shapefile, or in the output pathname of the DXF file, DOS will stop reading the file and issue the above error.

Solution or Workaround

• Specify an input directory whose name does not contain space characters.
  
• Specify an output directory whose name does not contain space characters.
  
• Rename the shapefile so it does not contain space characters.
