License information for this component not found

Error Message

The following license information error may occur when trying to develop applications with the MapObjects Map control.

"License information for this component not found. You do not have an appropriate license to use this functionality in the design environment."

Cause

If the machine has more than one copy of the Mo20.OCX stored, only one copy can be listed in the operating system's registry. If an unlicensed copy of the Mo20.OCX is registered on the system, then the control cannot be used at design time in a development environment.

This error can also occur if other licensed components that are not MapObjects components are used without the license information properly registered.

Solution or Workaround

Esri cannot guarantee results from incorrect modifications while following these instructions; therefore, use caution and proceed at your own risk.

1. Ensure that there is a copy of the Mo20.OCX in the $Program Files\Common Files\ESRI directory.
2. Ensure that there is a Mo20.LIC file in the same folder as the Mo20.OCX.
3. Register the Mo20.OCX.

If you cannot find these files, run the MapObjects setup executable again to install the components.
Restart a new session of your development environment (e.g., VB6) to access to the components.
