Text box headings, drop-down lists, table cell values and annotation text are cut off, missing or blank

Description

Text box headings are cut off or scrambled, and drop-down lists are not active or visible in ArcMap, ArcCatalog or ArcToolbox.

Cause

The operating system font size is set to large fonts.

Solution or Workaround

• Windows XP:
  
  
  A. Navigate to Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  B. Double-click Display.
  C. Click the Appearance Tab.
  D. Click the Font Size drop down list and select Normal.
  E. Click OK.
  
  
• Windows 7:
  
  
  A. Navigate to Start > Control Panel.
  B. Double-click Display.
  C. Click the Appearance Tab.
  D. Select 'Smaller - 100% (default)' radio button.
  E. Click 'Set custom font size (DPI)'
  F. Set the Scale to this percentage of normal size to 100% and click OK.
  
  
• Windows Vista:
  
  
  A. Navigate to Start > Control Panel.
  B. Double-click Personalize.
  C. Click the Appearance Tab.
  D. Click Adjust font size (DPI)
  E. Click 'Default scale (96dpi)' radio button and click OK.
  
  
• Windows 2000:
  
  
  A. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  B. Double-click the Display icon.
  C. Select the Settings Tab.
  D. Click the Advanced Button.
  E. Select Small Fonts from the Display drop-down list.
  F. Restart the computer so the new settings take effect.
  
  
• Windows NT:
  
  
  A. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  B. Double-click the Display icon.
  C. Select the Settings Tab.
  D. Select Small Fonts from the Font Size drop-down list.
  E. Restart the computer so the new settings take effect.
