ERROR

System out of memory, executable file corrupt, or relocations invalid for . . . \mxtools.dll

Error Message

When starting ArcMap, the following error message may occur:

"System is out of memory or executable file is corrupt or relocations are invalid c:\arcexe80\bin\Mxtools.dll"

Cause

There may be old versions of gswdll32.dll and gswag32.dll in c:\winnt\system32.

Solution or Workaround

  1. Search the computer's local hard drives for gswdll32.dll and gswag32.dll. Each file should be found in \winnt\system32 and \arcexe80\support\Graphics Server.
  2. Rename the copies of gswdll32.dll and gswag32.dll found in \winnt\system32 to gswdll32dll.old and gswag32dll.old, respectively.
  3. Copy gswdll32.dll and gswag32.dll from \arcexe80\support\Graphics Server to \winnt\system 32.
  4. Reboot the computer and register Mxtools by issuing the following command at a DOS prompt:
