FAQ: Why Can't I Update a Disconnected Recordset Using the ESRI OLE DB Provider?

Answer

Propagating changes back to a data source when a disconnected recordset is reassigned to an active ADO connection will only work if the provider supports the ADO recordset updatebatch method. The ESRI OLE DB provider does not support this functionality at present.
