Microsoft Access driver could not find input table for query < name of table >

Error Message

This error occurs when clicking the Query button on the SQL Connect dialog box, after connecting to an Access database:

Microsoft Access driver could not find input table for query <name of table>

Cause

The name of the table and/or the field names in the table may contain space characters. You will not be able to add such a table to ArcView.

Solution or Workaround

1. Open the database in Access.
2. Check the table and column field names. Remove any space characters.
   
   Though underscores in a name are acceptable (Field_name), they are not recommended because some drivers may have problems with special characters.

   This is a Microsoft driver error, not an ArcView error.
